Weight gain is a topic that seems to be on everyone’s lips these days, but did you know that weight gain can actually be caused by conditions such as constipation? Often times, constipation and weight gain can go hand in hand, and it’s important to understand why we get constipated and how to avoid it.
Constipation occurs when the body can’t eliminate waste. This not only keeps our metabolism from functioning properly, it also makes it much harder to lose weight.
Certain foods can actually make the condition worse, including those high in fat, sugar, and dairy products. You should attempt to replace those foods with fruits, vegetables, and sources high in dietary fiber.
Other things which have proven to help with constipation are exercise and increasing the amount of water being consumed each day. Both of these can be extremely helpful when trying to battle the problems of constipation and weight gain.
